A Finals
A finals determines our rank in the league for next year. It is a 2 day event at Mason and a lot of fun. It is an indoor meet. Each club can send 2 swimmers per event/gender/age group. Each team can send 1 relay per gender/age group. The coaches meet and determine the lineup for this meet. While entries may not always seem to make sense, points and place and legal swims are the ONLY consideration. Each swimmer can swim 2 individual events and 2 relays. A finals is July 8th and 9th this year. If you commit your swimmer, please understand you are making a full commitment for both days. Swimmers compete in prelims on Tuesday and the top 16 qualify to swim finals Wednesday evening. Once our lineup is submitted, we cannot make changes. Do not assume your swimmer will not make A finals. Perhaps the swimmers ahead of your swimmer are swimming other events and someone is on vacation. Or on paper, some swimmers have faster times but are not completely legal yet. At A finals, there is a full deck of officials and they will disqualify swimmers. We generally have many swimmers with very close times. Often times, it comes down to our last meet as to who will make the line up. Our entries are due the day after our last meet so it is a very quick turn around. This is why we need commitments well ahead of time.
If you already know your swimmer is not available for A finals, please respond to this email.
The league also has B finals. This meet is the championship meet for 12 and under swimmers. This meet is Monday July 7th. Swimmers cannot compete in both A and B finals. If you or your swimmer want to know where they stand or ideas on what to swim to make finals, please reach out.
Lots of information, feel free to reach out with questions!
